Anja Schuhmann

anjaschuhmannAnja took her first Pilates lessons in 1995, while she was studying musical theater and dance in London. She later moved to Chicago to continue studying modern dance. After graduating with a BA in Modern Dance, she obtained a Pilates Certificate from Body Balance Inc., a well-known Chicago Pilates Studio in 2000. Since then she has been teaching Pilates in different Pilates Studios, Fitness Clubs and Physical Therapy Practices, first in Chicago, later in Osaka. In 2007, she returned to her hometown, Berlin, and opened Studio A.

Numerous continuing education workshops have influenced and inspired her and add to her teaching:

  • Master Workshops with Madeline Black, an internationally known leader in the Pilates method
  • Educational conferences, such as Body-Mind-Spirit Expo (the world’s largest educational event for Pilates, Gyrotonic, Feldenkrais and Somatic Movement), the Conference of the German Pilates Association (Deutscher Pilates Verband) and Pilates on Tour
  • Franklin Method workshops, a synthesis of imagery, movement and experiential anatomy
PMA Pilates certified

Anja is a member of the German Pilates Association (Deutscher Pilates Verband) and she holds the internationally recognised PMA (Pilates Method Alliance) certificate.

Lubi Kimpanov

LubiI am a trained dancer and was involved in various dance and musical productions in Germany, Switzerland and Spain.

During my dance training in Berlin and Montpellier I was interested in various forms of body work and became a Pilates trainer in 1992. In 2009 I completed another Pilates trainer certification with Essence Pilates, Bremen.

The need to understand the human condition from a historical, anthropological and biological point of view, quickly awakened in me questions of a spiritual kind.

Soon I found the path to yoga. I studied scientific treatises and the writings of the Indian poet and yogi Sri Aurobindo. The Yoga teacher training in Madrid, 2004 – 2007 initiated an immensely fulfilling, spiritual path of mind-body work. Through the teaching of Hatha Yoga, my teaching of the Pilates method and contemporary dance also gained a refreshing quality. Teaching was a personal source of happiness.

Currently I am attending a 4-year Feldenkrais training in Berlin.

In September 2010 I received the certification to teach the Feldenkrais group method “awareness through movement”.

The Feldenkrais Method, with its love and admiration for the human potential is one of the most fascinating discoveries of the mind-body work that the West has produced. For me, who has lived this life for the past two decades, the Feldenkrais Method is a must.

In Berlin I also work as a dancer and musician. Music and dance still enrich my life.

Irene Schröder

IreneschroederIrene Schroeder first came to know and love the Pilates method during her professional dance studies at the School of Music and Dance in Cologne (2002 - 2006). Because of this positive experience with Pilates she completed the matwork teacher training with "Pilates Bodymotion" in Cologne and Hamburg, as well as a course for Pilates during and after pregnancy (pilateslab-berlin).

Irene has lived in Berlin since 2011 and works as a Pilates trainer, dancer and choreographer. This versatile work increasingly expands her contemplation and her way of dealing with the body and enriches her teaching.
